The town of Llandudno in North Wales is one of the country's premier holiday resorts and is found on the northern coast of Conwy. Because of this, there are plenty of Llandudno attractions that can be enjoyed by everyone in the family whilst staying in this beautiful coastal town.
The town itself lies between two very carboniferous headlands known as Great Orme and Little Orme. The town faces the Irish Sea on one side and to the other is the estuary of the River Conwy. It is not only these headlands but also the West and North shores which make this location so appealing to tourists.
The Great Orme reaches a height of 680 feet and is home to Tudno Church, the Great Orme Copper Mines and you can take the Llandudno Tramway to it. Also living here are more than 100 Kashmiri Goats whose ancestors were a gift to the Queen Victoria from the Shah of Persia (now Iran).
As for Little Orme, this only rises 463 feet above Llandudno Bay and makes a good viewpoint to see it's cousin Great Orme, Anglesey and the mountains in Snowdonia. Its cliff face offers bird spotters the chance to see razorbills and cormorants. Further back in time, one of its caves held a printing press that printed various Catholic prayer books.
In Llandudno, you can visit The Alice in Wonderland Centre which features all sorts of characters from the famous book. The centre was opened, as Llandudno is a place where Alice Liddel the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's book, spent her childhood.
Another of the most popular attractions in this town is its Pier. The pier can trace its history back to 1878 and was built in just 12 months. If you choose to walk along the pier, you'll come across a number of small, ornately decorated, buildings that house a bar, cafe and amusements. Souvenirs can be found in the gift shops on the pier.
During the summer months, the pier is where one can get the Steam Packet boat from to sail over to the Isle of Man. Along with the sailing over to the Isle of Man there are organised trips arranged so that you can explore it as well. The pier itself since first being constructed has several extensions and has been renovated as well and it now measures a total of 695 metres.
